Professional Development Workshop
Peripheral intravenous (IV) cannulation is a foundation skill for a broad range of clinicians working in health care. This workshop is focused on the pre-hospital care provider (Medic/Paramedic).
This workshop will build on skills and knowledge of the Medic/Paramedic and is not suitable for individuals who are not qualified in IV Cannulation as part of their qualification and/or certificate to practice.
The workshop is designed from national and international best practice with a focus on ‘Rapid IV Cannulation’ using techniques originally designed by the military and adapted to the Australian pre-hospital care environment.
Training will be performed face-to-face in a typical classroom and will involve simulation. The workshop will be contextualised to meet the needs of a workplace including the use of site specific cannulas.
